The club was formed in 1950 by Ron Whittaker, a North Staffordshire man who performed under the Stage name ‘The Great Ronaldo’. Thanks to his enthusiasm the Mystics quickly established itself as a magnet for followers of magic from the Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding area.

 

Today our members represent a wide cross-section of disciplines and performance styles and include both professional and amateur magicians, along with dealers, hobbyists and all those with a genuine passion for the art.

 

We currently meet on the first Tuesday of the month at the Smallthorne Victory Club, in Stoke-on-Trent and try hard to ensure our diary is as interesting and varied as possible with top names from the world of magical entertainment regularly providing lectures at the club.

 

The Mercian Mystics is open to anyone aged 18 and over, although we also have a thriving junior section which meets on the same evening as our regular meetings.

 

Meetings are friendly, fun and informal and provide plenty of opportunity for members to show off their latest trick or to seek advice on handling or performance from the wealth of experience
